The results of a British field study, including testing of the Birdsbesafe cat collar cover, were published in Current Biology, in March 2021. The study examined various strategies for controlling cat predation behavior, including adding more play time; adding a more animal protein-based diet; or using the Birdsbesafe collar cover.
An article in Science magazine online summarizes the study. "Want to curb your kitty's killer instinct?"
They wrote: "The Birdsbesafe collar was the most effective way to reduce the number of birds the kitties brought home, cutting the total by 42% on average."
The UK conservation organization, Songbird Survival, whose research produced the above study has posters featuring the Birdsbesafe cat collar cover, here, as a recommended control for cat predation on birds.
